LOCOMOTIVES

Below is some detail on the locomotives that currrently operate at the Cyfarthfa Miniature Railway . Any detailed information please contact info@merthyrtydfilmes.org.uk.

 

    O-4-0 RS2T Roanoke Petrol Hydraulic.

    This locomotive is the mainstay of the Cyfarthfa Miniature Railway. The locomtoive is powered by a 5 hp petrol engine coupled to an eaton hydraulic drive. The drive poweres one axle via a chain and sproket. The connecting rods then power the other driven axle. The loco has an electric start and vacuum pump to control the coaches brakes. 7.25” Gauge

Pamela 0-4-0 Hunlset

The Steam Locomotive is currently under overhaul. The locomotive is to the milner hunslet drawings. The boiler is steel, and coupled to the loco is a tender for the driver. The Loco has two live steam injectors, steam brake, hand brake, and controls for the vacuum brakes on the Carriages. The locomotive will be back in service early summer 2013.7.25” Gauge

Class 66 Loco

This Locomotive was funded by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in March 2013. The locomotive is powered by four batteries, coupled to six 24volt motors, one on each axle. The locomotive is fitted with a sound unit to replicate the sound of the full size locomotives, currently seen at work throughout South Wales on the Rail Network. The loco and 3 BR MK1 Carriages were supplied by Abbots Model Engineering. 7.25”
